Oh, spring, spring, spring

*springs!*

There's nothing like living in the Midwest to make you appreciate spring. Now I understand the impulse of the populace to wear shorts the instant the sun shines. It beats the hell out of suiting up like you have to leave a science station at the bottom of the world, you know? Oh, god! less clothing! I'm into it now.

I've been thrashing about like a serf in my front yard. My neighbor Max hates this ritual too -- a treasured break from the Midwestern habit of greating everything, even tornados and blizzards -- with a stoic smile. We both hate yardwork. Our shared misery makes us stronger. Our labors have coincided in the last few days, and we pause occasionaly to pant and sweat and spit the crap out of our mouths and curse the neccessity of yardwork. I like Max.

The weather is so beautiful that yesterday, after hours of yardwork, I went to the gym. By god I did! (For my ill-advised heroism I got such a sore elbow I could hardly sleep. Note to self: No Heroics).

Today I delivered my yearly talk to the 4th grade class at the local elementary school, and they were darlings as always. One of the kids is perhaps a genius. She drew an on-the-fly sketch of me as I was talking, and her notebook is filled with art. She can't not draw. Excellent.

I wrote a fanfic for Henry Hellrung http://community.livejournal.com/henryhellrung/2001.html
and took a nap. And I made a deal. I got some things done today. I LOVE SPRING

EDIT: I cooked something the other day that didn't fail. SPRING IFLU

EDIT2: Damn you Deadliest Catch!

EDIT THE 3RD: Btw, since I started working out again my legs are kickass. YEAH! Some real evidence of the boredom and pain of working out. IFLU SPRING

Hurray for spring!

I knew it was spring today because I changed from Hot Coffee to Frappicino in my morning Starbucks trip.

...I just realized how sad that sounds...

Oh man, Deadliest Catch is so intense already. It's insane.

EDIT2: Damn you Deadliest Catch!

I FEEL YOUR PAIN. Damnit. I actually went off the show for a season and a half because I couldn't take the intensity, but now I'm hooked all over again.

Can't wait to read the Henry story!

As for Deadliest Catch, I heaved a sigh of relief when Phil was pulled off his boat at the last possible second on doctor's orders, but I'm starting to suspect that Keith will be the new Phil.

At least the ruthless, unflappable Sig remains a surly constant. When they sing about the faces being so cold, it's his Nordic mug that I always envision.

:) Less clothes are always better ;) Speaking of yard work, I guess I should do some in my own yard *groan* Too many trees dropping limbs! Speaking of out West has me missing AZ (where I was born, I live in Florida now)

Aw! Very cool that you do that for the 4th graders :P I remember being that age and doodling every chance I got *sigh* good ol' days before having to work all kinds of hours ;)

Oh! Just read your fic! (commented there, but Wow! I'm impressed! =D)

SPRING! It's glorious. Everything smells nice (well, except when the farmers dung their fields but even that's okay because it smells of SPRING.

Hope your elbow won't give you further trouble. The crud is finally gone? Yay.

Your workouts do inspire me. I found myself mesmerized this morning by one of those 10-Minute Trainer infomercials... and then started to wonder if this was the same Tony Horton who seems to have directed some of the follow-up vampire series to Dante's Cove? And were that true, would it make working out more fun? Either way, I really must start some kind of exercise program.

This season of Deadliest Catch really is an immediate wire brush to the nerves, isn't it? This latest Coast Guard rescue drama is excrutiating.
