A fine Turkey Day -- I'm deeply fortunate to have friends who include me in their family get-togethers. And dear God in heaven, can that lot cook. Never less than three kinds of turkey (this year it was smoked, roasted, and fried, I think), plus smoked briskit (is that how you spell it? Not really an expert on meats), and insanely endless varieties of side dishes. It's a big family and everyone has their expert personal recipe.
And joy! My chutney has a rep now! My friend's adorable younger brother staked out the table as I was offloading the goods and grinned: "I was hoping you'd bring that," and leapt upon it with heartwarming ferocity. Glowing, I was.
Had to cut out early to work on this *@&^$!#@! script section, and the afternoon was not a blast -- I've really lost all confidence. But I still have time. I knocked off before my anguished cursing reached levels audible to the neighbors at a reasonable hour, and finished my crazed decorating spree. The place looks like a seasonal discount store in a strip mall now, but eh, I wanted a lift. Also got a few words written for a new Angel-and-Spike story -- maybe working on it will jumpstart the WIP. First stuff I've been able to write in months, anyway.
A pal at Tea at the Ford tells me Buffy S7 will be on sale at Target stores for $17.99, Friday and Saturday -- and oh, those are the only tidings that could possibly get me to a store the day after Thanksgiving. Couldn't endure myself if I didn't try to get in on that.
Happy sleep, all! Hope you have a nice long weekend.
