The touring company of The Full Monty is the shit. There wasn't a less than outstanding actor in the whole cast, and they could do the show in their sleep, so the timing and chemistry was flawless. I was kinda surprised... I wasn't expecting much. And there were lots of witty lyrics, which also surprised me. The only downside was the preponderance of jazz for the tunes. A few escaped being jazzy, but not many. Big Ass Rock was a small miracle, touching and funny and clever, and melodious, thank God. Worth seeing for Big Ass Rock alone, but they also have Jeremiah

who hits all my Gary Sinise buttons and sings like a bird.

I'd never heard of this guy, but unnnnh. Didn't like the character in the movie, didn't like the character in the musical, but it couldn't have mattered less. I'm besotted. He can do no wrong, this Jeremiah Zinger. At the curtain call he did this shameless, overwhelmed gesture (one of those Oh, my God, you are the BEST AUDIENCE I'VE EVER HAD, my life is now complete things) and I merely laughed indulgently, admiring his brass. I'm a goner. J. Zinger owns my heart.

I managed to get through the whole night without telling my friend about the tsunami video I saw right before leaving the house. It would have only made her sad. But I have these complusive sharing issues, and it's very hard to hold my tounge in such cases, even if speaking would make me Debbie Downer.
But I held out. I held my peace. At the end, as I was driving her home, I was actually praying for divine assistance, but I managed to keep my mouth shut. A breakthrough! This was one of my not-offically-a-resolution resolutions for the New Year, and by thunderation, I managed to do it. Stoked.

Hee. I said Gary Sinease. I of course meant "Gary Sinise, the cineaste and sexy beast," but it was late.
