Another day sorta lost to car things. The more I was out, the more I wanted to paint. Spring is driving me crazy, it's so beautiful. As evening fell I dropped by a friend's house to borrow a power drill, and their trees were blooming in the dusk. Lord.
Came home and screwed around for another half an hour, stalling so it would get too late to start anything. Because oil painting is messy and sprawly and nothing to tackle right before bed. Except I couldn't help it. I started a tiny painting of a blooming tree at dusk, and ach, the joy. Bliss: pushing paint around on a balmy night in spring. Nothing like it.
I want to call in sick tomorrow and paint. I want it so badly it's shameful. But I need to save my days off.
Still, tonight there was a lapis sky, a tree's pale petals flushed to rose, and hints of frosty green like ambergris or seafoam on the knobby bark. And I got to keep a little of it, so the day wasn't a complete wash.
*pets the pretty, pretty day*
