Yes, I'm working on Super Bore Sunday. A loser is me.

But the R Palmer Lost promo was a stitch. I still like Lost -- and the super-cheery spoiler making the rounds gives me courage. :D!

The next two weeks are going to be hell, workwise. It's gonna be a... character-builder. *trembles*

In a clinch like this, it's all about filling the silent space of solitary effort, and if I hear anymore daytime TV I'll simply break. Yesterday I played a Who marathon, and today I didn't, because it's going to be a long two weeks of pain and I didn't want to go off Who by association. (So go ahead and scorn me for having the Super Bowl on: I have my reasons. :)

I've been wistfully visiting expedia. Oddly, airfare to Frankfurt costs about the same as airfare to Minneapolis. Airfare to London is the ransom of two kings. Can anyone tell me why? It's a mad world.

I can't work anymore. Yet I cannot stop working.

I curse you, Cain!

Is that Captain Jack in your icon? An early pic of Barrowman?

Too bad about that deadline, but you'll make it. I've been looking at ticket prices and wondering if I risk losing my money by booking now, or if I'll make it impossible for work to insist I cancel my vacation if I announce I've bought my tickets.

[identity profile] jwaneeta.livejournal.com 2006-02-06 06:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Book now. Buy those tickets. Work will simply fob off the next world-ending emergency on somebody else because you're committed: that's SOP.

I'm so glad you're going!

Re Barrowman: yeah, it's an icon by my Barrowman-addicted pal Smitty. She's got the google fu -- obscure pics of JB like you can't believe. Mountains of them.

And yes, he's wearing dreadful clothes in Every. Last. One.

(John Barrowman and his habitually ghastly clothes: he's the new James Marsters, in a way. :)

I too know the hell of too much to do in too little time.

Poor pet.

And why on earth wouldn't London cost twice as much as Frankfurt? I mean, really.

[identity profile] jwaneeta.livejournal.com 2006-02-06 06:49 pm (UTC)(link)
But... but... London is a hub. Isn't London a hub? Don't hubs cost less? Puzzled, very.

How's the condo-having? Are you thrilled or frantic or both?

You know what's hard? Drawing women in 1850's bonnets. They were designed, in an excess of Victorian modesty, to completely hide a woman's face from the side. So you can't see the characters act unless they are staring straight at the reader, or unless you cheat.

I used to scorn TV/movie costumers for messing with historicity for finessing those bonnets, but now I repent. With ashes. Woe.

[identity profile] jonesiexxx.livejournal.com 2006-02-06 07:27 pm (UTC)(link)
I haven't moved yet. The place is being renoed. The money is escaping down the drain.

Being in London is just twice as interesting as being in Frankfurt was the theory I was propagating.

I always think the Super Bowl happens on either New Year's Day or American Thanksgiving. And yet it does not.

Yeah. Seems like a Fall ritual. Creepy.

But here it was.

[identity profile] jwaneeta.livejournal.com 2006-02-06 06:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I meant Spring ritual, of course. It's not like I don't know what time of year it is or anything. Jesus.

Yes, I'm working on Super Bore Sunday. A loser is me.

Especially when you coulda been watching the Puppy Bowl instead:
http://animal.discovery.com/convergence/puppybowl/puppybowl.html?clik=netmain_feat1

This year with Kitty Half-Time show! I swear it's mesmerizing, like watching a lava lamp...but with Puppies!

Did you miss it? Don't despair, the dvd's are shipping in March.

Then again...maybe it's not necessarily something to actually work to. I had to turn the thing off and go to another room.

BTW, working on a Sunday doesn't make you a loser. Why, look at me! Uh...nevermind.

[identity profile] jwaneeta.livejournal.com 2006-02-06 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)
hah! If I'd had the Puppy Bowl on I wouldn't have gotten anything done. As it was, Mick Jagger *forced* me to attend to duty -- I couldn't look at that man. What a frecking banshee, what a specter, what an animated corpse. Is it possible he's still technically alive?

I can't remeber the last Sunday I didn't work, but when the whole rest of the country is gorging on nachos and swilling beer, one feels a little... martyred.

Haha :D
Yeah, I never pop in my 'Angel' or 'Buffy' DVDs until I'm done for the day, or officially taking a break. I have a few dozen tapes of 'Frasier' and 'Friends' and I play those practically nön-stop when I'm on a working binge. And 80s pop, sometimes. And movie soundtracks.

Oddly, airfare to Frankfurt costs about the same as airfare to Minneapolis. Airfare to London is the ransom of two kings. Can anyone tell me why? It's a mad world.

Very weird. Once I wanted to go to Edmonton but ended up in Vancouver because it was 500€ cheaper. Hey, that means you're coming to the book fair this October? :)

By the way, from Germany to London you can go for, like, 20 Euro (so I was told by a friend who flew there regularly).

For real. But I'm going broke renting stuff. And listening to music depresses me. I'm trapped, trapped! TRAPPED. Do you know how many commercials I lisen to in the space of a day? OMG I'm going to end up at a head shinker ahhhgh.

This is the nascent scheme, I'm thinking. Go to Germany, wax book fairish, go to London, and then back to Frankfurt for the flight out. This business of paying twice the fare to land in London is just mental.
