Does anyone have a Dreamwidth account to give away? I keep seeing them on my flist and I'm always an instant too late.

EDIT: Got one! Thank you, droneish!

Go drop a comment on my post so I remember, and I'll make sure you get the next one that comes my way.

If you haven't got yours yet, I do have one left. I'll reserve it for you until I hear otherwise. ;)

Oh, yay! Thanks so much! Can I send you my email through your lj email?

Whoops, you don't seem to have a contact for lj... mine is jwaneeta@livejournal.com. And thanks again. :D

EDIT: Duh, there is is. Buy here's mine anyway. (I need to go to bed, I really do. ;)

Aside from the fact that it's like LJ, what's the advantage of having an account there? I guess I've just not caught up with the cool kids. :(

As I understand it, Dreamwidth is fan-friendly. It's grassroots, so there will be (for a time, hopefully) no issues like getting eaten by a buy-in corporation who has no clue about the mindset or culture of the users, or who wants to wring every dollar, ruple or euro out of the customer and be damned to everything else. It was also conceived as a journaling service that will not randomly screw things up in the name of marketing.*

*per marketing, see #amazonfail, or the demise of scans_daily, or strikethrough, or any number of clusterf**ks that have recently wearied paid LJ users... or just online folks in general.

Cool!
If you have an invite left, could you plz send one to me...(if that's the way this thing works?)

Not quite -- they're still in the beta stage, so massive joinups might overlaod their resources. Right now it's invite only. I got a code from someone, but don't have any codes to give myself. In a couple of weeks it should open up, though.

That sounds good and I totally understand the whole thing behind invites. Best invite I ever got was a gmail account. Now there's a place for all my spam to go and it even deletes itself! :)
