Just read that UPN passed on Angel. It was never more than a snowball's chance, of course, but it was something and now it's gone. *bleak stare*
Jesus, I could use some fic. I'm devouring Nan Dibble's latest as fast as she puts it up, but even she can only post so fast, and there's not much else out there. At least not enough to suit me.
I'd really like to read something between bouts of painting this book cover, which is not cooperating in the slightest.

well, it's not official
any of the companies.
Me, too with the Nan! It's ADDICTIVE.
(I'm re-reading Enemy of my Enemy; just got
finished with the Bowiebharata)
I'd offer my current draft, but it's,
uh, set in second season BtVS with no
blond vampires in sight. And not finished.
*you* could write a little sumpin'-sumpin'....

I'll try. God knows it's good therapy. If I can just summon the energy and crawl out of this stupid funk...

Heh. Meant to say: I'm re-reading Old Blood. For the gajillionth time. *g*
The thing about Nan
have to remind myself that I write too, and people kind of like me) is that it's just so good that it's like Sunnydale came out of her head instead of Joss'. When I first discovered "Old Blood", I stayed up until 2 frickin thirty in the morning crouched in my computer chair.
She makes me feel like I am writing haiku compared to her. Hell, I like haiku. Limericks. When she started posting "Blood Rites" I almost swooned. I wanted to tell her I loved her in a big gay wedding with brownies way, and I'm straight!
And this is from someone who adores every wrinkle on David Boreanaz' untucked shirt; I love Nan's Spike so much that I can set aside how much of a bastard her Angel is. It works in the context of her story!
And Mike!
How much do I love, love, love Mike?
Sigh.
I love DevilPiglet for recommending Nan to me.
I have said this in her journal.
Just thought I'd rant in yours.
The thing about Mike
Sigh.
Ooh, ooh. Don't get me started on Mike. Ah, the Mikester. I'm continually amazed at what Nan's done with Mike. All her OCs are great (and how does she do that, btw) but Mike's uncanny. I've tried to analyze why he's so indelible and sympathetic and lurveable, and I realize a lot has to do with the fact that he's a contrast/compare character for Spike. In Mike we see a lot of what Spike was, and we can cherish Spike for coming so far unaided, etc. But lately it goes beyond that: Mike breathes. I root for him, I worry about his prospects, I prize Mike for himself and want everyone else (characters and readers) to prize him too.
It's all very odd... I wonder if it's freaky. But considering that he's completely OC -- there's no ME backstory for him, no shortcuts, no assumptions, just pure creation -- it's an astonishing achievement for Nan.
And makes me feel like a pretty shabby Haikuist too, by comparison, so right with you on that one. :}
Re: The thing about Mike
And I'm completely into Dawn as Spike's "pure mother and sister".
That's how much I love Mike.
Should we start our own society?
(and I just sent my haiku to Beta. I started it
on Black Friday)
Blush
Thank you guys for reading my stuff so appreciatively and discerningly and leaving me great comments. You keep me going and help keep me honest about the characters. New motto: no shortcuts! Play the scene out to the end!

fanclub.

Re: Blush
(yeah, once in while I remember that I'm a lawyer)
but THEN I run back to read!
