I'm terrible. I got an extra two days on my deadline for GW and promptly went to the zoo with my friend, her daughter and her nephew.

What could I do? They held a small semi-automatic handgun to my head. And there were baby tigers.

There was also a very endearing young peacock who couldn't impress the ladies to save his life. He had no suavity at all. If a hen gave him a passing glance he shook from stem to stern and sent up a strangled honk of desperation that was, even to our non-birdy ears, extremely unsexy. Hearing it, the hen would hurry on her way.

Poor kid. He'll learn.

Came home and watched The Incredibles. Bawled with laughter. The Edith Head character destroyed me. Why do I wait so long to watch the fun stuff?

Also gorged on Chinese food. Now trawling for fic. I want to read something with a battered do-gooding Spike, and, if possible, a batteered do-gooding Angel. Post NFA, bleak bonding, lots of heroics. Or the H/C aftermath of heroics. 'Cause Ladder 49 just ain't doing it for me.

It's called Parkinson's Law: Work expands to fill the time allotted.

It's also called weak character. :) But it's spring and the zoo is crammed with baby animals. One is not made of stone. *g*

And I'll pay. Oh, will I pay. This one's gonna hurt.

And here I thought you'd be out on your camping trip!

And I'm right with you. I only saw the Incredibles two weeks ago. Brilliant stuff. And yes, Edna rocks!

I don't get to retreat off until George is done. And he must be done by the 20th come hell or high water.

When's the terminal date for your project again? If I have to do it before I flee to the vast prairie, I will.

[identity profile] sadbhyl.livejournal.com 2005-04-09 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
Beginning to mid-May. So if George is done on the 20th, you can camp for a week without fear. And come back all rested and inspired!

Sounds like a plan. :D

Puppy!! :-D

:D A day well spent. (She said, knowing it's coming out of her hide later this week.:)

Hey! That's my line.

Baby tigers! Who could blame you? :-)

[identity profile] jwaneeta.livejournal.com 2005-04-09 04:46 am (UTC)(link)
I wish I had a zoom on my cheapie camera. Those babbeh tigs would turn anybody to mush.

And there were other little animals, too. Black Footed Cats, African Cats, and the orangutans all had wee ones.

It was nice to be out and doing. :)

When baby tigers hold a handgun to your head, you really gotta comply.

[identity profile] jwaneeta.livejournal.com 2005-04-09 10:17 pm (UTC)(link)
You can't see the baby tiger's handguns in the pic, alas. Dumb cheap camera!

Poor peacock! And you most certainly had to go to the zoo. Taking time off to get out and then to watch something new is just the recharge your batteries need before finishing GW. That should have been understood when you got the extension, so there's no need for guilt or explanations.

Poor peacock!

He did his Smoove B routine like a champ until a hen actually responded, and then he'd blow it. It was oddly touching. :D

Aw, bless you. And actually, I've gotten quite a bit done today, despite the sudden death of my new, still-under-warranty POS scanner. Normally that sort of thing drives me insane, but I kept going, so maybe the stress level went down after the zooage.

(Oh, man. The Buffyspeak? Not abating. Will it ever? I'm thinking not.)

See, the recharging thing absolutely worked! Slacking off is an important step in any job.
